When Should I Book a Removal Company for Moving House?

Back to Blogs

It’s essential to be as organised as possible to help create a stress-free move, but when should you book your removal company? Booking a removal company for moving home is an important part of ensuring a smooth and organised moving experience.

We recommend that you contact your removal company as soon as you can. You can then start to build the relationship with your dedicated Move Manager and Site Surveyor and receive your quote so that you can budget accordingly for your tailored move plan.

Once the quote is received you can always call the office to discuss the details. At this point we can start to lock in your chosen moving date. It’s also important to know that move dates can change and they often will do. When there are lots of people in a ‘moving chain’ it can be hard to get it all in line. Remember we are used to dates being changed and we will do all we can to accommodate these changes when they arise. We want to take care of your move.

There are a number of things to consider when you’re thinking about when to book your removal company:

As Early as Possible:

We would recommend that you book in your removal as early as possible, especially during popular moving times. Times like weekends and the end of the month tend to get booked up very quickly. These dates can always be ‘pencilled in’ and confirmed nearer the move date if necessary.

At Least 4-8 Weeks Before Your Move:

You should contact your moving company around 4-8 weeks before your planned moving date. This will give you enough time to make the necessary arrangements and arrange for our site surveyor to pop out to the residence and see what is there and what kind of service is required (we are always happy to quote for a number of different services if need be).

The quote will be emailed within 24hrs of the visit. Once received we check availability, and any potential moves dates you have discussed with the solicitors.

Thinking About the Time of Year:

We are busier at certain times of the year, mostly the summer months when many people want to move. If you're moving during a peak season, try to organise your move even earlier as this just alleviates any stresses and worries about the forthcoming move. As mentioned previously we will always try and ensure we can accommodate your move.

Consider Any Special Circumstances:

If you have any specific needs or require additional services like our full packing or part packing service, or maybe you require storage, we can also assist and quote for these options. We are always on hand to discuss details, or they can be discussed with the surveyor on the day of the visit.

Check Availability:

Before finalising your moving date always check with us to make sure that we are available on that date. The process will usually follow a telephone call from your estate agents or solicitor, never confirm with them until you have confirmation your move can be accommodated on the dates discussed.

Flexible Moving Dates:

We will always try to be flexible with your moving dates. We understand that the dates are out of your control and when dates are constantly changing this can add stress and uncertainty so we will try to be as flexible as we can. As a tip, if moving your valuables into our stores, consider moving the day before completion, this relieves a lot of stress and worry and leaves time to have a clean down of your old property.

Last Minute House Moves:

Always contact us if you are planning a last-minute move. Depending on the move size and what’s involved, we will always try and see if we can do anything to assist with your move. It’s never too late to give us a call.

Contact Removal Companies Even Before Exchanging Contracts

Feel free to contact us even if you haven’t exchanged contracts as we can give you an idea of costs, service, and availability.

Remember that planning and booking your move early can help reduce stress and ensures a smoother moving process.

Communication with your removal company is key, so keep us informed of any changes or adjustments to your moving plans. If you would like further information, contact us today.
